Who was St. Arnold?
Saint Arnold was acclaimed bishop of Metz, France, in 612 and spent
his holy life warning peasants about the dangers of drinking water. Beer was safe and
"from man's sweat and God's love, beer came into the world." [ more ]
In these modern times we need to be a little less concerned about
the general quality of our drinking water. As our forebears did we share the results of
out labors with family and friends.
Why brew your own? Well, that's a good question! Why do we buy
bread, cookies, beer, [insert other products her]? For convience or lack of time is an
often cited answer. There is a certain pride and sense of accomplishment when you get create
something just right. Another reason is that it may not be locally available? How many
varieties of mead do you see on the shelf at the local beverage store? If you're lucky at
least one so in this case making it yourself is the only answer (especially if you reside in
an area that prohibits from-out-of-state shipments as many do.
